Church History
St James Church Haslingden has a long and interesting history.....
The first church on the site of St James Haslingden was built in 1284.
The building was rebuilt in 1574 and late in the 18th century the church building fell just after the Sunday morning service!
The current building which replaced it was completed in 1780 and cost £ 1,149 and is a Grade II listed building.
In August 1998 there was an arson attempt and following this the Parochial Church Council agreed to re-order and re-furbish St James.
The Act of Re-Dedication and Re-Hallowing of the parish church was conducted by the Lord Bishop of Blackburn on Friday 25 February 2000.
